It is essential to have cognizance of rules and strategies of the game before actually playing it. For instance, consider a player is taking part in the Holdem Poker Tournament and he is on the 9 player table. In this game, the seat number 5 is big blind and set number 4 is small blind. As a part of the assumption, let the player be seated in the seat number 6 and that the player has been just dealt an ‘Ace’ of clubs and a ‘king’ of clubs, or rather called as Ace-King Suited. When the player gets the turn to wager, where 6 players are remaining to follow the player, then the player must be able to decide if he has to fold, raise the bet or call the 1000 chips blind.

While playing, the player must be aware that the Ace-King suited is a strong hand, though not the best one that he could get. It ranks third among the 169 cards that could be bet. Based on these facts, it is thus understood that at this stage, it provides 68. 6% chance to win the hand. However, in spite of having such a strong hand, the player must not opt to declare himself ‘All-in’ and therefore, undoubtedly the player must not opt to fold his hand too. This explains that the player’s reaction is somewhere between ‘All-in’ and ‘fold’.  It is possible to get an Ace-high straight or Ace-high flush, because of the pocket hands. Besides, there is a chance of landing a top pair either with the player’s King or Ace, accompanied with a kicker card.

There is a chance that none of the above hands appear. In that case, it is prudent to raise a bet, so that the player can get rid of his weak hands.  In case, the player doesn’t get a straight or a flush, then he will have to get a pair of Kings or Aces for winning the hand.  There may be times when the players get neither flush nor straight and additionally if he is not able to get the King or Ace pair, then the best alternative is to raise bet to 1500 chips, rather than actually taking chance over the whole chips. Even if no other players raised a bet after the bet using 1500 chips, then the player will be at least cautious in making use of any further chips, after observing the previous flop.  On the other hand, if the player gets raised, then it is up to him to take the decision of either raising a bet or folding. However, this in turn will put his tournament chances and chip stack in risk!
